The two most recent Living Our Beliefs podcast guest, Dr. Lindsay Simmonds and Luis Ferreiro, each spoke of the richness of learning from and collaborating with others. While there are many differences between Lindsay and Luis – nationality, religion, and gender among them – I was struck by the similar comments regarding working with others. Lindsay’s comments were couched in the educational realm of Jewish Orthodoxy, in which she advocates for, teaches, and learns with other women in her community. Luis, on the other hand, spoke appreciatively about collaborating with a range of professionals – historians and curators mostly – in the development of historical museum exhibitions. Both Lindsay and Luis are smart professionals dedicated to their fields, qualities that surely contribute to their enthusiasm for working collaboratively.
